“I love you,” I tell her

“I love you,” I tell me

I’m so happy for you Amy. Me thinks that this is a powerful revelation, and no small statement. The miracle of being held in nature’s embrace is releasing and transformative.

It’s so interesting how many of the most simple yet profound revelations come doing the most primal and natural of things. And perhaps therein lies another beautiful lesson.

Joyful tears! Totally. When mine dropped in unannounced after reading the poem, this idea that emotion is information had me realizing that they were showing gratitude for the self love I’ve learned to foster, but also… I think there was some sadness mixed in there for the seasons when I struggled to deeply and honestly tell myself, “I love you.” Like, the undying, I-got-your-back, I’ll-do-anything-for-you kind of I love you. It feels like a birthright—one we alone must claim. And I wish for every, single, human, in the whole, wide, world, to own their very own I love you with unapologetic abandon.
